The economy is transforming and businesses in key target industries are choosing southern Nevada.
The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA)’s mission is to continue growing the region of southern Nevada through connectivity, community development, and aggressive business recruitment, retention, and outreach.
As the regional economic development authority for southern Nevada, the LVGEA offers businesses many services to support start-ups, relocations, or expansions in the Las Vegas market. These services include giving guidance in the application of state-based incentives, providing market information and research, offering assistance in finding qualified workforce, and making connections with local resources and programs that help business realize potential expansion opportunities.
In 2016, the LVGEA saw success in its efforts as it helped attract and expand 32 new businesses that are projected to create 7,260 jobs. Now into the first quarter of 2017, the LVGEA is starting off at an even faster pace and is on its way to delivering another record-setting year of job creation and community impact. The organization has already assisted in the addition of nearly 2,000 jobs to southern Nevada and has another 23 companies in the pipeline for quarter two.
The LVGEA has a unique role, working with hundreds of companies each year. Because of this, it sees the workforce demands and needs of incoming companies before anyone else—which is essential to the economy. Therefore, it continues to be more involved in workforce development in southern Nevada in order to meet those needs. For instance, the LVGEA aligns its workforce with the region’s target industries, promotes apprenticeships and internship opportunities, and is engaged in developing workforce strategies.
The LVGEA also knows the importance of keeping businesses and the community informed. Every year, quarterly newsletters are published and various events throughout the year are held that provide enhanced market research, analysis, and community polling—all important economic development insights that are necessary for businesses to succeed.
Additionally, last year the LVGEA launched a Research Center designed to guide informed decision-making about the local economy. One of the highlights of this research center is a data portal that features advanced regional mapping tools as well as thousands of economic indicators and data points updated in real-time, to paint the picture of southern Nevada’s vibrant economy and its diverse population base.
The community of southern Nevada has a competitive advantage, and its residents are thriving in our business-friendly climate. The LVGEA plays a key role in this ecosystem, so that our region can continue moving forward into becoming a more prosperous, diverse, and connected regional economy.
