Southern Nevada is on the rise, and the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) is at the forefront of this exciting transformation.
For the last six years, the LVGEA has been helping to grow the region through connectivity, community development and aggressive business recruitment, retention and outreach. The LVGEA offers resources and services to support relocations and expansions to the Las Vegas market.
Just recently, the LVGEA was officially designated as an Accredited Economic Development Organization by the International Economic Development Council. This places the organization among the top one percent of economic development groups in the country.
In 2017, the organization helped to create more than 5,600 new jobs through the expansion and relocation of 36 companies, with more than half of the companies belonging to the manufacturing sector. In total, the LVGEA has supported more than 19,000 jobs for Southern Nevada since its launch in 2012.
The LVGEA’s coalition continues to grow as it fosters key partnerships within the community. With regional and state partners like the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, all work closely in efforts to strengthen, diversify and build a New Nevada that is driven by innovation and a pro-business operating environment. The LVGEA’s Board of Directors—known as the LVGEA 50—is the largest business board of its kind in the state and comprised of leaders from the private sector, government and education, who help to address the most important challenges and opportunities facing the community. Additionally, the organization formed Council of Chambers to promote unanimity on policy recommendations that are supported by thousands of businesses.
Nevada has come a long way since the Great Recession and is currently leading the nation in job growth—an impressive improvement from being ranked last just six years ago. It is also in the top three for economic growth potential and number two in Forbes’ American Dream Index. And not only is the state adding jobs, but the economy is becoming stronger and more diverse.
What drives the LVGEA team most is delivering a real impact for southern Nevada residents. Every dollar invested in the organization generates nearly one hundred dollars of regional economy impact for the community. Looking ahead into 2018, the LVGEA is focused on advancing regional growth strategies that include supporting support pro-jobs policy, strengthening workforce and education, and building globally competitive transportation systems.
It is no doubt that southern Nevada is booming, and this is simply the beginning. As the third-fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States, the community is preparing for a rapidly growing population and workforce. Companies who can go anywhere else are choosing to be in the center of this vibrant economy.
As the region’s economic development authority, the LVGEA is working hard to help its residents thrive in a more prosperous, diverse and connected economy.
