Desert Wind Coffee Roasters Embraces Local Uniqueness

While the Las Vegas area is heating up so are the offerings of Desert Wind Coffee Roasters. But don’t worry, they also have drinks to cool you down, too.

Desert Wind Coffee Roasters, offering a large variety of coffees (hot and iced) from around the world with at least 15 different varieties on hand on any given day, is a specialty coffee roaster established to provide local coffee roasting services to local businesses and the public. They run a coffee shop right at the roastery, which opened in June 2015, as well as a satellite shop in Henderson Hospital.

Owned and operated by Pam Mason and Joseph McGill, Desert Wind Coffee Roasters got its start as a part of a dream Mason had and after a brief stint with another start up roaster that didn’t work out, the duo decided to set up their operation to serve the local community. With a commitment to customer service, serving the local community is the essence of their business and is the very reason they established Desert Wind Coffee Roasters.

“While we are not the only coffee roaster in Las Vegas, we are one of the few as the coffee scene in Las Vegas is in its infancy,” Mason said. “We have a proprietary small batch hand roasting process and use only specialty grade coffee beans and that results in exceptionally high quality and freshness.”

People love to come to Desert Wind Coffee Roasters for the quality small batch crafted coffee, the ambiance and home-feel atmosphere as well as the friendly service and to enjoy a local hang out. Most importantly, Mason and McGill say, these qualities are needed in the melting-pot Las Vegas community.

“Most coffee in Las Vegas is sourced from out of state and we believe that shouldn’t be,” McGill said. “To the extent possible, we support other local businesses, such as getting pastries from local bakeries to offer as a compliment to the drinks we serve.”

Having moved to Las Vegas in 2012, Mason and McGill chose to build their business in Nevada because of the quality of life offered in Las Vegas in addition to filling a significant need for a local source for fresh roasted specialty coffee.

“For business owners considering Nevada, Nevada has the best business climate in the country and the hot summers in Las Vegas are not nearly as bad as they might imagine,” Mason said.
