Engineers at heart, the team at L.A.B. Golf has been hard at work over the last five years to bring a new kind of putter to golfers around the world. The company’s putters are created with a patented technology called Lie Angle Balance, which was developed by Reno native and professional golfer Bill Presse.
Presse’s struggles with his own putting forced him to look for a solution, so he teamed with engineer, Scott Sulprizio of United Engine & Machine Co., to come up with a technology that Presse and his team believe allows them to create the finest and most effective putters on the planet.
What’s different about L.A.B.’s putters is that they’re pre-programmed to help golfers make a better stroke. This is due to their “torque-free” design, which encourages L.A.B. putters to swing square to a golfer’s putting arc. Lie Angle Balance is said to radically simplify putting – especially for those who struggle on the greens – and L.A.B. has received testimonials from golfers around the world whose enjoyment of putting has been resurrected by the technology.
Presse was raised in Reno and never even considered starting the business anywhere else. “There is an abundance of talent to draw from for our staff and all of our industrial needs are being met,” L.A.B. Golf CEO Sam Hahn. “Nevada is also certainly tax friendly. It’s a lovely place to entertain customers and investors.”
And Nevada loves them right back.
In the company’s infancy, all of the local Reno courses were very supportive and helped them gain credibility and momentum, especially Somersett Golf & Country Club, Montreux Golf & Country Club, Hidden Valley Country Club, and Washoe Golf Course.
